Zed is a saxophone quartet dedicated to creating and sharing new musical experiences for all audiences. Founded in the fall of 2023, they are based in Austin, Texas and comprised of Connor O’Toole, Jacob Feldman, Marina Sakellakis, and David Bennette—all current students and alumni of the University of Texas at Austin’s Butler School of Music. In 2024, they won the Silver Medal in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize at the NOLA Chamber Fest. They were also finalists in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and semi-finalists in the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition. Zed is committed to community engagement and is passionate about putting on local concerts and masterclasses. They regularly perform at the University of Texas, in Austin public schools, and in conjunction with local non-profit organizations. They recently performed at KMFA, Austin’s classical music radio station, as part of their Midday Concert Series. Zed is excited to continue commissioning composers and developing the saxophone quartet medium.
